Man, I wish it were possible to somehow get the logs back from the Evo RP Tif and I had on GreatestJournal. 8( I even went to the e-mail address I had the notifs going to, but Yahoo purged everything before 2007, and the RP happened in 2004.

WHY DID YOU DIE, GREATESTJOURNAL? I wish I'd had the foresight to back everything up...

In somewhat related news, while looking for the old notifs, I got sidetracked by the old e-mails Tif had sent me in 2002/2003 (I put them in a save folder, so they survived the purge).
Iiii have a new livejournal layout! I only changed it about a month or so ago, but I wanted to go with something wasn't fandom-related, and I fell in love with this one as soon as I saw it. I made a few changes, and there are still a few tweaks I'd like to do, but for the most part, I'm satisfied. With it I have a new mood theme! Whoo.

In other news, I've temporarily switched my browser to Google Chrome because Firefox has been eating up my resources like a mofo. The last time I used Chrome, my computer didn't seem to take to it very well, so I was back on FF within a day or two, but so far so good this time! I only wish they had a plugin that was equivalent to LJLogin. Fortunately, I've only been using idgiebay and attorney_at_lol lately, so I'm using the double browser trick for now. If anyone has any experience with making plugins, the person who made LJLogin says they have no problem with someone writing a version for Chrome, though they have no plans to do it themselves.

Well, time to go get dinner. Ciao~!

LMAO.

I was using the trial version of a recovery program, which was able to find all of my files and folders but couldn't transfer them anywhere because... it was a trial version. I'm thinking of buying it and doing the recovery myself, but I'm going to try one other thing. My mom suggested giving the drive to the guys that run our network at work and seeing if they can do the recovery, because they might do it for free. That would be ace. o3ob

If not... Well, I'm not going to let myself get upset about it anymore. There are a lot of irreplaceable things, like old artwork, but most of my art is up on DA. The only problem is I wouldn't have access to the PSD files, but... c'est la vie.
Well, this sucks...

I was in a good mood all day. I was excited because I was going to (and did) take Phoenix off of hiatus, but now I'm just frustrated. My external hard drive just... stopped working. The part that kills me is that the data is still there; I can see that 50 GB of space is being used when I look at the drive's properties, yet when I actually open the drive, well... Maybe it's best if I just show a picture.

I have no idea what that 'v' folder in the beginning is. When I click on it, I get an error, telling me the path is invalid.

As you can see, 50.6 GB is being used. The few files and folders that are showing up are all 3 KB and below, so my data must still be there, right...? I think I'll take it somewhere tomorrow and see if the data can be recovered. As much as I pride myself on being technologically savvy, this is so obviously beyond me...

God, I hope it can be recovered. So many years of my life are on that stupid drive. Every single piece of art, every creative project in general... I know it was stupid of me not to have a backup. Believe me, I'm kicking myself over it.

If you can think of anything that might help in the meantime, I'm all ears.

I remember so many commercials from my childhood, but I'm not sure I can pick out a favorite. I'm still thinking of making my own, though. There are very few Noah pictures in this one and no Jasdevi at all, as far as I can tell. /sadfais

It just hit me today that I haven't done anything creative in... almost two years. I used to draw or color or write all the time, but it seems like I have no motivation for anything these days. (Roleplaying doesn't count for me; it's not the same as sitting down and drawing/writing/coloring something that you have a SUDDEN BURST OF INSPIRATION FOR, you know? At least not for me.) I kind of want to start doing photo manipulations again. I had a lot of fun with those. The only problem with that is my current lack of ideas, but maybe I'll see if that weekly contest on DeviantART is still around. Oh, or maybe that club where you can just color other people's line art! That was always fun.

To be honest, I miss drawing most of all. Unfortunately, it seems like I don't have the confidence or patience for it anymore.

I know it was two days ago and it's over, but there are a few more things I want to say, and then I'll let it drop.

I rant when I'm stressed, and because of everything that's been going on for the past year and a half, I've been stressed to the max for quite a while. Sometimes I say things I don't mean or exaggerate a situation because stupid, insignificant things bother me when I'm stressed, and venting is therapeutic.

I realize I can be passive, but I'm by no means a doormat. I take care of my problems, and I take care of them privately. I don't air out my laundry, I don't publicize things that are nobody's business, and I don't volunteer every tidbit of information to my friends. If you want to know something, you can come to me directly; I am honest. There is no need for you to do me any favors by repeating something I told you in confidence in an effort to make me deal with something you think I'm letting go by the wayside.

Yes, it still upsets me. I don't like being suspicious of everyone I talk to.

ETA: Now for something lighter...

Your result for Roleplayer Test!...

The Portraitist

Random, Character-Oriented, Platonic

As a Portraitist, the character is everything to you. You value the character's personality and development more than anything else, and your goal in roleplay is to flesh the character out in any and every way possible. You're the method actor of the roleplay world: you know your character through and through (you've probably done a ton of research) and you enjoy throwing your character into new and random situations just to prompt interesting reactions. However, you're hard to involve in any plots, mostly because ongoing stories that don't focus on exploring your character's innermost depths quickly bore you. Also, you might like to put your character in tragic/stressful situations a little too much.

Take Roleplayer Test! at HelloQuizzy

I don't agree with the last two sentences. I would overwhelm myself if I continuously did plots that focused on exploring my character's 'innermost depths'. Also, I rarely put anyone in tragic or stressful situations for the simple fact that I'm afraid it would seem gratuitous, lol. o3o;;
